Hello from the Land of Smile – Thailand!

I am Andrei, proud LCP of AIESEC TEAMisoara for 2010-2011 and now I am in the national team of AIESEC Thailand responsible for talent management and local committee development.

So I must tell you that the experience of me being here it is by far the most exciting and challenging thing I have done until so far. Imagine that it was my first time to fly, my first time in Asia, my first time for a lot of things. Imagine Romania with all its traditions, with the way people talk, behave, drive, use public transportation, react when you smile at them, react when something bad happens – imagine Romania with all the stereotypes…and now… Imagine the opposite!

So If you are very good at this exercise you can imagine a little bit of Thailand. Everything here is different from what I was used to. People here smile when you smile at them, people here are very calm and nobody is using the horn of the car, you can find food everywhere here – and a lot of it, you can find fish in small recipients on the side of the streets, you can find skyscrapers, you can find a highway in the middle of the city, all of this in a city of 12 million people!

It is still my 22nd day here, and I had a little taste of what Bangkok and Thailand is, and I am sure there is more to come. My only advice for you is to find and take advantage of any opportunity that you can find to challenge your comfort zone, to challenge everything you were used to, because it is the best way to grow in a better person!

Take a leap of faith!

A fost o seara in care am avut sansa sa “calatorim” in Mexic, Slovacia, SUA, Danemarca si China.

Emilia Ciovor – Team Leader Performance

De-abia astept urmatoarele teambuliding-uri.”

An evening full o suprises.

Do you know how good if feels to go to an AIESEC event and not being involved in his organization when you are in the OC????? Well last night, this is exactly what I experienced.

I got to the Student’s House and I saw lots of red small people, running around, doing stuff that I was suposed to do. In the meanwhile, I was enjoying and waiting for the event to start. Incredible feeling. I was surprised to see so many people in the room. Parents, friends of friends, AIESEC-ers. And with a small delay, the evening started. I could not believe my eyes. The participants were doing it all by themselves. And they were doing it great. They were talking so free on the stage as if they were doing this for a living. They organised the agenda with small plays and lovely moments to entertain the guests, card tricks, roll calls, everything. Now I am wondering, was this implication because of the trainees they had, or because of the quality of the project? Did we influence them that much? Personaly I want to believe that YES, all together we’ve done a great job. I’m positive they have a lot of qualities and skills, they just need someone to believe in them and help a little bit.

And like one of the participants said: “The chance to be apart in a project like GROW is ONE”  but also the chance of organizing a project like GROW, of meeting so many extraordinary people, of having such a surprize after 4 months of work is ONE.

I cannot wait for the next edition.
